Making e-learning measurable

"A corporate e-learning training programme is a major investment, so in order for it to be effective, companies need to be able to measure the impact of such a process," says Gary Galanti, Bridge People and Technology sales and marketing director.

Galanti's company has released its upgraded flagship e-learning product, KnowHow 2.5, which provides accessible ways to measure whether tangible results have been delivered by the programme.

“The beauty of the solution is that we can customise it according to a client's specific requirements. Our approach, which is founded on a tried and tested methodology, has enabled our business to grow in excess of 150% year on year and secure major contracts ahead of our competitors,“ says Galanti.

“The key with training programmes is to understand that classroom learning will never completely disappear, but that sometimes retention within such an environment is low. This is why we believe the key is to blend classroom training with online work in order to get the best of both worlds.”

He says the product's online browser-based learning management system tracks, reports on and manages learning content, learner progress and interaction, meaning that employers can now evaluate learners' knowledge, competencies and rate of skill transfer in real-time, since reports are electronically delivered on-demand.

The company, which was founded in 2020, has a number of international clients, including Unesco, Sasol, Caltex Oil, Standard Bank, Distell and the World Food Programme, based in Rome.

“We have clients in countries as diverse as the US, Hong Kong, Philippines, Kenya and New Zealand, and I believe this is due to the fact that we have built our business around a deep understanding of the issues that corporate companies face in the training environment and our blended learning approach brings together the best of both worlds.

“A blended learning solution will be of no use if it does not work to align people, resources and process within an organisation. Most importantly, the solution needs to be evaluated to ascertain whether it made a measurable impact on the organisation,” says Galanti.

“Remember to focus on tangible results such as how much business processes have improved in terms of quality, efficiency and productivity. And, if the groundwork was properly executed, there is no reason why it shouldn't deliver the expected results.
