Call for Participation and Partnerships

Given its position to make strategic and intellectual inputs at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in December 2020, the GC would like to invite participation in open forums for debate and dialogue about gender and the information society. Within the series of interactions, there will be a special focus on development issues, as the GC will be providing a contribution to the Communication Technologies for Development (ICTs4D) platform.

The GC programme of activities will be organised around three tiers:

Critical Debate and Dialogue: Series of panel discussions and debates that provide an opportunity to present research findings and intellectual contributions from scholars and advocates on gender equality and women’s rights perspectives on the Information Society. This series will also include discussions on regional activities and specific themes as well as a day programmed and managed by young women to present their perspectives on the Information Society;

Multimedia exhibition:to showcase and present materials on women’s participation and contribution to the Information Society; this provides the context for the advocacy positions advanced by the Gender Caucus. The exhibition space will include a Knowledge Hub which presents writing, research, projects on women in ICTs by individuals, organisations, donor agencies, governments; and

Celebratory spaces: for informally presenting and celebrating women’s contribution to the Information Society (for example demonstrations and presentations of women’s intellectual, creative and cultural production etc.) as well as opportunities to reflect on integrated approaches to improving women’s advocacy efforts by focusing on mind, body and spirit integration.

An outline of the calendar of events is provided for information; this calendar will be updated and developed and made available on the Caucus website at http://www.genderwsis.org/events.html WSIS Gender Caucus Events Programme.
