SchooNet Zambia

In May 2020 at the African ICT Conference in Botswana, SchoolNet Africa’s Executive Director was approached by a group of ICT champions from Zambia with a view of re-launching SchoolNet Zambia. The new look SchoolNet Zambia is to be structured as follows:

  • Operate as Ministry of Education recognized entity
  • Have a Board of Directors captured from a cross section of the Zambian public
  • Be a flag bearer of ICT in Education in Zambia, working with other National and international Agencies in promoting ICT in education activities

After consultations, SchoolNet Africa’s executive director agreed to this request and currently submissions have been made to the Ministry of Education. One of SchoolNet Africa’s prime objectives for the new SchoolNet Zambia is to develop a public – private sector partnership. In view of this, a one-day orientation seminar was arranged to introduce SchoolNet Zambia. This seminar targeted participants from government, media institutions, telecommunication institutions, NGOs, computer companies, donor agencies, educational institutions, and financial institutions.
